Re: New to Brizbass? Introduce yoself here!

Hi guys im Simon, im 22 and originally from Christchurch, New Zealand.

Got into Drum and bass when i was 13 after being totally wacked out at the sonic assault that New Zealand drum and bass duo 'Concord Dawn' could produce!!! from then on it was the way to go!!!

Been mixing for about 6 years and producing for about 1 and a half. Lived in Sydney for a year and a half and made the move to brizz about 4 months ago!! and loving it! It reminds me of the chch scene about 4 years ago! great people in the DNB community and they all know how to have fun!

I once woke up naked in the shower, wearing roller blades with my legs hand cuffed behind my head............

Any one keen to co produce tracks??? DNB for life!

Re: New to Brizbass? Introduce yoself here!

to keep this rolling

im james (hifire) i moved back to brisbane about 4 years ago after doing the whole live in as many places as possible in the shortest amount of time thing.

i started mixing in about march last year and im finally starting to feel comfortable behind the decks Tongue  i tend to play a pretty varied style of dnb anything from hospital styled dancefloor bizniz to the UK styled rave dnb and all the hard stuff inbetween, its all good in my eyes.

i got into dnb when i was living over in the states back in 99-00 and got taken along to some of their huge dnb warehouse parties and i was hooked (also got the opportunity to see reprazent play live <3 ) though i am generally a fan of anything hard, dark and heavy (a throwback to the good ol' gabba days) hence my new found addiction to dark dubstep.

so anyway enough for now Cheesy

Hello boys and girls ... my name is Rory (or Luke ... depends who you ask ... and how long they've known me ... or who they met me through. This still confuses Kim at times  Grin ). Brisbane resident born in England.

i like beer

i like bass

i like breaks

i like lots of shit actually.

I'm a sucker for the more ragga'd breaks n riddims and tings on the dubwise tip aiiiight!

My love of breaks n bass was spawned from early 90s breakbeat/rave and labels like Moving Shadow, Rising High and XL. Currently i'm kinda focussed on dubstep (preferably with breaks) but when it come to DnB i'm rather partial to some rootsy jungle vibes   Frizz

been noodling around music (guitar, band, production) for around 15 years and "DJing" since errr ... 98 i think, but i've only had 2 x 1200s and a decent mixer for about 2 years.

check the link in my signature for the sounds i've been collecting and mixing more recently    Afro

Sup all!

My name is Aaron and i'm a booze hound.  I have been djing around the traps for about 4 years now under the name kuruption but i have finally gotten sick of hardcore. Most modern stuff is quite boring! Music wise i'm right into most things but djing wise i'm spinning hardcore breaks/breakbeat hardcore and a bit of dnb under the alias B.S.M now (check out the mix in the mixes section Wink ) I was getting into production but then got bored of it but starting to get back into now so no doubt i will have lots of questions for the production forum!

Catch you lot around! peace.

Re: New to Brizbass? Introduce yoself here!

hey peeps!

might as well post in here too. my name is brad and I have been DJing/promoting as 'swob' with the Dank Morass crew around Briz for about a year now. originally i hail from Whangarei in NZ but moved here when I was a kid. I'm a big dnb fan but my attention in recent years has been fixated on dubstep & bass-heavy beats. i'm really into the more darker stuff, but I try to play a lot of different styles out. promoting-wise, we've been lucky enough to put on shows for some of our favourite acts like Flying Lotus, Scuba, N-Type, Goth-Trad, Loefah & Zed Bias. taking a small break from promoting in october so hopefully i can record a mix or two soon like i've been talking about for the last 6 months!

big up the Briz bass massif!!!

Re: New to Brizbass? Introduce yoself here!

hey guys Smiley

my names mandie. i'm from adelaide. i mix drum n bass under the name ledz.. i haven't played out much but i got a few gigs in the coming months which is exciting Smiley

i love drum n bass, but i also like freeform/hardcore, punk/metal, aussie hip hop and can tolerate electro/breaks/dubstep (within reason)..  my fave dnb is the dark stuff like spor, BSE, audio, jade, etc. etc. but i don't mind a bit of dancefloor sorta stuff.

some of my favourite things are vinyl, serato, legwarmers, england (even though i've never been there), crossing punk and rave style, and free money.

i'm hoping to come check out the scene in brisso soon!

ciao!

i have come to rampage your lawn and with the remains i will make a teepee and any people who dare to enter that teepee will be attacked by a giant cobra twirled around an umbrella.

Re: New to Brizbass? Introduce yoself here!

Easy...

You might know me from the krankydigital.com forums and chat room.. I'm the crazy guy who runs around screaming DnB 4 Life whilst simultaneously dismissing everything else (none of that happy hardcore shit thanks!)

Been into drum n bass since 1996 and have been addicted ever since. Until I met n00bdles late last year, I was the only person I knew that enjoyed drum n bass. Respect n00bdles!

I work with n00bdles, designing websites and making them search engine friendly... in my spare time, I sleep in, eat out and try to get out to DnB gigs where I can...(big ups to my man Kranky!) and really looking forward to seeing more DnB action in Brissy... props to de la haye for keeping the dream alive!

Turn it up.

Re: New to Brizbass? Introduce yoself here!

Hi there!

I'm Karryn... Have been into dnb since around 1998-1999 or so, thanks to my big bro: model_t! Huge love to him for that because as much as I've enjoyed other genres along the way, none have ever felt as though they are my life force, as dnb does.

I also love underground hip hop, yummy. So yea, I'd have to say dnb and hip hop are my preferred genres however I am known to listen to other bits and pieces as well. I mean, if it's good, then I like it. Only genres I'm not interested in are death metal and country!

I'm currently living in the northern burbs of Brisbane but plan to move to the city at the end of January next year, can't wait! I'm hoping to finally settle in and find a place to call home Smiley.

Re: New to Brizbass? Introduce yoself here!

Hi,

Dave wrath, 1/3rd of Speaker Wrath, those obnoxious drunk bastards that yell shit at people.  Been into dnb for maybe 6-7 years.  Been producing music for 8-9 years i guess.  Still aspiring to make some decent dnb despite having releases on a few labels, lol.  Also, I'M NOT A DJ, so don't ask.   Also into most other styles of music that aren't 4/4 beats or just ghey.  Lots of Rock in most forms, hip-hop, funk, jazz, breaks, 2 step. etc...

I'm a designer and do work for Junglettes, Rukus, Bass Creepz, & some stuff for Uber.  I'm affiliated with the Rukus crew, we make rad gigs happen sometimes.

I drink Bacardi (with just about anything), and Peroni.  I love the discovery channel and Nat Geo, and I'll watch pretty much any movie once, except 2 - Rectuma & Evil Bong.  Get them out and you'll see why.  Other than that I like to hang out with Kim, Jordo, Steve & Dom and talk shit and make fun of stuff.

If I was a solo singer/ songwriting banana this is what I'd look like ->  guitar
